My great, great grandfather, Isaac L. Thomas, was mustered into Capt. S.P. Larmer's Co. B, 27th VA Calvaly, Trigg's Partisan Rangers on 8/19/1862. He, too, was from Lee Cty. I have copies of his company muster rolls and it appears he was captured sometime in Oct., 1864 because his last muster roll card show him AWOL since Oct. 17th. I suspect he was captured at either the Battle of Tom's Brook or the Battle of Cedar Creek. I believe Tom's Brook was Oct. 9th and Cedar Creek was Oct. 19th. Been trying to find out which one. He was paroled 4/29/1865 at Cumberland Gap, KY.
I have his original Oath of Allegience to the Union he signed on Apr. 29th, 1865 when he was paroled/exchanged. I have it framed with a 45th CVA reunion pin he rec'd at a reunion in Amarillo, TX. I would like for anyone to tell me if this is valuable enough that I should insure it. I have no idea.
Thanks for any help.
