Andrew I cannot thank you enough for going to all that trouble for me. Your message cleared up some things for me. I always thought he was captured in Oct., 1894 because his last muster roll said he'd been AWOL since Oct. 17th. From the reply you sent it appears obvious he was not and his unit just surrendered at the end of the war.

By the way, I live in a suburb of Houston, TX. There was an article in the business section of the Houston Chronicle regarding a copywrite case argued here. The jury found the defendents not guilty because federal copywrite law says you have to receive compensation in order for there to be a violation. Just FYI.
