In Response To: Lanford Brother Graves ()

Jim,

In the surviving Oakwood Cemetery records for 1862 is an entry for one T.A.P. Sanford--a soldier who is unaccounted for under the surname Sanford. Having researched thousands of names for Hollywood Cemetery, I can tell you that the when researching surnames beginning with L--one should check under the letter S and vice versa. I can also tell you that A'S WERE OFTEN H's--so Thomas H.P. Lanford is a logical fit for the entry T.A.P. Sanford. The fact that death was about the same time for your ancestor further suggests to me there is a match. The key is the hospital, if known, where he died.

Best of luck
