CS Cavalry in northeast Alabama in October '64

During September - October 1864, parts of Wheeler's cavalry extended on a picket line northwesterly from Atlanta. By late October, as Hood was moving north toward Tennessee, part of Wheeler's cavalry extended beyond the Coosa River as far as the Tennessee River. From the O.R.'s, on October 23, Col. W. L. Lowry reported to the headquarters of Gholson's cav brigade at Goshen, Alabama, "In obeying your order to report to Colonel Hannon, beyond the Coosa, I met General Hood and he ordered me to return to this side of the river and take position to watch and oppose ant attempt of the enemy to cross to this side of the river, and report to him at Jacksonville."......I was under the impression that Hannon was still closer to Atlanta with Iverson. They did not accompany Hood to Tennessee, and were in the Atlanta area when Sherman moved out on November 15 enroute to Savannah. Did they temporarily move northwest into northeast Alabama when Sherman moved north, and then follow him back?....Can anybody shed more light on what units were actually in northeast Alabama in October 1864?
