Does anyone have a muster of Company I, 62nd Alabama Infantry. Especially interested in 2nd Lt. John Bestor Stone. Although Confederate Veteran Magazine states that he was Company Captain, I can find nothing in the record to confirm that he ever took over this postition. I have his CSR, it only states that he was "elected 2nd lieutenant of Company I" and "Elected a Commanding Officer." I also feel that other relatives might be present in this company in that when John was elected, he was serving with the 4th Alabama hundreds of miles away in Virginia. Maybe someone can shed some light on the election process, and help me understand if he had "friends" connected with this unit.
