Thanks Roger. John was elected to the 62nd in April of 64. The 4th Alabama muster roll for March and April show him present in Viginia, after which he is wounded and in hospital at Richmond until Aug. of 64. The 62nd's records bear this out - they show him absent, not yet transfered from the 4th Ala. Vols. You can see why I suspect he had some connection with the men in Co. I. However, after scrutinizing his records, I notice that in Jan. and Feb., he was on "conscript duty" in Selma. Maybe this could explain his election in absentee. By the way, do you show any Armstrongs in Co. I?
