Regarding Tombigbee site, I have seen mention of the CSS Phoenix. She was completed at Oven Bluff and equipped with her engines in late 1863, was floated down to be finished armored at the Mobile shipyard in late 1863. There was never enough iron to plate the gun deck of the Phoenix, and it remained in dock or patrolling the upper Bay at Mobile throughout the war. Commodore Farrand surrendered several warships at Nanna Hubba Bluff. Federal reports indicated 4 warships surrendered along with 112 officers, 285 enlisted men, and 24 marines. There were 12 total ships in the Confederate fleet at the time of surrender. I would guess the flagship ironclad ram CSS Nashville, gunboat CSS Morgan, and rams CSS Phoenix and Baltic were the warships.
