In Response To: Calhoun Beaureguards ()

Donna,
My GGfather served with Co A, 26th Ala Inf Rgt;
that company made-up partially of those from
Fayette County, were called the "Calhoun
Beauregards; the rgt you refer to was organized
about a year later as the 26th and as soon as
it was recognized that there was another, it's
designation was changed to the 26th/50th; as
far as I know, Co A of the 26th/50th was not
called the Calhoun Beauregards; the 26th served
with the ANV and the AOT and the 26th/50th with
the AOT and their rgtl records do seem to get
a bit mixed at times; as I recall, O'Neal was the
26th commander and Coltart the commander of the
26th/50th, about the only way I can keep them
sorted-out.
