Alan,
Thanks for your response. I have now gone through the archives, and have been able to read a few of the messages you referred to. Unfortunately, some of them would not come up, and showed only as unavailable. Thus, it was difficult to read an entire thread. I remain a bit confused. One of the microfilmed records I have makes reference to Co. A "Calhoun Beauregards" under Captain Sappington, as having been Co. A of the 2nd Battalion Alabama Infantry, and subsequently Co. A of the 26-50th Alabama Infantry. In one of the threads I was able to partially read, you made reference to a company known as the "Calhoun Guards" under Captain Daniel Forney as being Co. A of the 2nd Alabama Regt. Are these two 2nd Alabamas separate entities? Did one disband before the other was formed? Do you have access to exactly when the "Calhoun Beauregards" went from one unit to another? My original message in this thread indicated that the company went to Huntsville and was a part of the 19th Alabama. In addition, our family research shows the following information regarding our GGrandfather:

GRAVE REGISTRATION OF CIVIL WAR VETERANS, WPA

A. Bryant
born 24 Nov 1837, AL
died 7 Jul 1922
buried Ellistown, Union County, MS
Company I, 19th Alabama Regiment, Infantry and Company A, 26th Alabama Regiment, Infantry, Army, CSA
rank private
enlisted 9 Apr 1861
discharged 26 Apr 1865

CONFEDERATE PENSION ROLL OF UNION COUNTY, MS

(in "North East Mississippi Historical Society", Vol. 1, #2, page 96)

Alford Bryant (Should be Alfred)
Company I, 19th Alabama Infantry
enlisted Calhoun County, Alabama, 1861
Commander: Colonel Wheeler
Captain: Sappington
Married 1867
wife Mary Elizabeth Bryant

Could it be that the original Company I of the 19th subsequently became Company A of the 26-50th, without interim duty with the 2nd?

If you can help further clarify this and put an end to my confusion, I will be forever grateful.
Best regards,
Rick
