Alexander C. Martin applied for a pension in 1914 in TX. He said he served in Co. E, Louis’ Regt., Wheeler’s Cavalry, 13th Battalion in Alabama and afterwards in Co. I, 56th Regt. Ala. Partisan Rangers and was discharged at Kingston, GA after the surrender. His pension was rejected as the War Dept. could find no record of his service.
Know many records were lost and that some folks applied for pensions to which they were not entitled. Is it likely this man served in the units specified, especially since he seemed to know that the 13th Alabama Cavalry Battalion became the 56th Regt. Alabama Partisan Rangers?
Was there a Co. E, Louis’ Regt?
How complete are the records for the two specified units in which he said he served? Guess I'm also asking here is it likely that any records for Alexander C. Martin would have been lost.
Thanks for any and all assistance.
