I have a copy of the film and have watched it any number of times. It's interesting an American adaptation of the French novel, "The Return of Martin Guerre", which took place during the Hundred Years War. Although there some problems with the story (growing tobacco in middle Tennessee - what's the problem?) and other details, it has its appeal. I enjoy the different scenes which show the progress of character played by Richard Gere walking home from prisoner-of-war camp at Elmira, and have shown this part to different schools and classes.
Well worth watching.
