Re: Another Teen Soldier-- 8 (Hatch’s) Ala Cav.

The tenth company was probably Capt. Redwood's "Warrior Cadets". This company had been Company "F" of Lockhart's Battalion, mustering on Jan. 29, 1864. It transferred to this command on Apr. 26, 1864. Lts. William Haywood Lawrence (class of 1850) and Charles Eugene Owen (class of 1858) had attended the University of Alabama.

Companies "A" and "B" at one time formed Lt. Col. J. L. Harris’s Volunteer and Conscript Battalion, 2nd Congressional District of Alabama. Company "F" had been on duty with the Conscript Bureau. Other companies were recruited by Major Hatch and stationed at Camp Miller, Tuscaloosa AL, Feb. 10, 1864. Perrin's Company "D" seems to have included the most young men from Pickens County.

I'm not very good at family relations. However, the regimental surgeon was Edward Burt Perrin, U/A class of 1856.
