Well, I did try to imagine C. C. MARTIN being a drummer in the cavalry, which was his given rank per the record I have.
Couldn't imagine anyone trying to play a drum on horseback. Also, couldn't image a drum easily being transported on a horse. So, I continue to be confused by the rank given for him.

OK, so C. C. MARTIN probably initially obtained a horse from some source. Based on the PERRIN data supplied thus far, I would think horses would have been readily available for the PERRIN family, but I have no idea about C. C. MARTIN's family's financial status.

I appreciate the data on Company "H". Do you have similar data for Company "G", which is the unit my Isaac MARTIN served in?
