Re: company C Morton Confederates

Thanks Alan, I have his service record (My GGrandfather was in the 1st Alabama, Tennessee & Mississippi Infantry Regiment) My question was a generic one brought about by your response to a query in this thread and your statement-"That is, unless you really want to know the names of every Confederate captured at Island Ten." To rephrase it-where does one locate any of the many Yankee prison camp rosters-In the case of Camp Randall, after repeated requests by the Union Commissary General Of Prisoners to the Camp Randall commander for a list of prisoners-and finally obtaining it-years later the printers of the Official Records left it out, as not being important! I believe this would be the case in all prison rosters, they're not in the Official Records/or are they?

One could conceivably spend a good bit of $$ and time attempting to navigate through the NARA web site to determine what to order from NARA concerning Confederate Prisoners Of War.

Perhaps there is a Confederat Prisoner Of War expert that participates in the Alabama Board??
