thanks george, i sent the info to his kin to obtain the pension from this site. they will do so soon, Them Smiths are hard to trace, looks like the whole family worked at the Arsenal at Mt Vernon, i was able to get them in through a great uncle Dennis Payne Brashear http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GScid=2098763&GRid=39135998& im looking for his war record, i assume he was KIA
