As I remember, the Yankees dug a zig zag almost with stones throw of the Salient.

I tried to locate these trenches which were below the point. Below the area is a residential street with homes backing up to the bluff. I could not gain access to the area.

Here is the one Wiseman in the 43rd Tenn.

Wiseman, William H., Capt., Co. G, born April 1, 1829 near Jersey, Davidson Co., N.C., enlisted, age 30, October 19, 1861 at Knoxville, Tenn. as Pvt., elected 2nd Cpl. December 5/13[?], 1861, appointed 1st Sgt. March 1/7[?], 1862, elected 1st Lt. May 10, 1862, December 2, 1862 regimental return records as left at Salvisa, Ky. where he was critically ill from dysentery and left at Eldorado, Ky., promoted Captain April 27, 1863 vice C. L. Hensley, successor as 1st Lt., John Webb, wounded in arm at Vicksburg June 22, 1863, captured and paroled at Vicksburg July 4-9, 1863, assigned by Special Order to a Board of Survey at Dalton, Ga. to examine quartermaster stores, captured at Woodstock, Va. September 23, 1864, sent with captured officers from Harpers Ferry to Fort Delaware, Del. September 25, 1864 arriving September 27, 1864, January 1865 roster notes: “All the Company Officers are captured & records lost”, subscribed to oath of allegiance and released at Fort Delaware June 10, 1865, description: place of residence-Jefferson Co., Tenn.; complexion-light; hair-brown; eyes-grey; height- 5 ft. 10 in., pre war resident of Dandridge, Tenn., in the photography business studying dentistry, stated his occupation in 1860 as “Artist”, with a a value of real estate of $1600 and value of personal estate of $3450, post war, married Florina Eliza Roberson October 9, 1866 which union produced five children, worked in western North Carolina until 1870 settling in Newberry, South Carolina in the photographic business, subsequently travelling west where he settled in Caddo Grove, 25 miles south of Fort Worth, Tx., where he engaged in farming, following the loss of his farm buildings to fire he reestablished his photographic business in Glen Rose, Tx., later he relocated his business and residence to Hico., Tx., subsequent to the death of his wife on November 27, 1907 he lived with his daughter Louise Wiseman Parks in San Antonio, Bexar Co., Tx. where he died March 10, 1911, he is buried alongside his wife at Hico, Hamilton Co.,Tx., file contains correspondence with the Adjutant General from Mrs. C. E. Culbertson, Box 394, Kiowa, Oklahoma dated January 16 1935 (M268 Roll 294) [related descendent-Dale Wiseman, St. Peters, MO.]
