Re: King's Creek near Tupelo MS, May 5, 1863

Gents,

Here's the Order of Battle for the July 1864 Battle of Tupelo for the Confederates:

Wirt Adams' Division

Mabry's Brigade - 4th, 6th Miss. Cavalry, 38th Miss Mtd Infantry, 14th Confederate Cavalry, 11/17th Arkansas Mtd. Infantry

Bell's Brigade - 2nd (22nd) TN Cav, 15th (20th) TN Cav, 18th (19th) TN Cav, 16th (21st) TN Cav

Rucker's Brigade - 8th (19th) Miss Cav, 18th Miss Cav Btn, 7th TN Cav

Crossland/Lyon's Brigade - 12th KY Cav, 3rd, 7th, 8th KY Mtd Infantry

I worked this up when doing some research on a possible TN cavalry unit flag being lost in the fight. The two CS flags lost there are:

6th Miss Cav (to the 33rd Missouri US) and 8th Miss Cav (14th Wisconsin Inf).

How the heck do the 13th Alabama ID ever get put onto the 6th Miss Cav flag in CV???????
