Re: Civil war hospitals in Mobile, Alabama

Dear Mr. Martin:

I was delighted to read your post together with your offer to look for names, etc.

I have a great, great grandfather who was wounded and never returned from the War:

Samuel Herring, Private
Enlisted: May 14, Perry County, Mississippi
Regiment: 17th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry
Company: E

The only information the family has is that he was wounded at Bay Minette, Alabama and hospitalized in or around Mobile, Alabama. He never returned from the War nor has the family been able to determine the date of his death nor the place of his burial.

Would you please be so kind as to look for his name among those on the two hospital lists.
