Mr. George Martin: Thank you for your response to my inquiry for information on my great, great grandfather, Samuel Herring. We were glad to get the information which you furnished. I will follow up with contacting the Sons of Confederate Veteran Camp in order to ask what information they may have found as a result of the survey.

I have another relative, a great grandfather who likewise fought in the Civil War and lived to return home. However, we have no record of where his service might have taken him. The following is the information we have that pertains to him:

Thomas Everette Hinton (also known as T. E. Hinton)
Time in Service: Sep 1, 1863 to May 4, 1865
Rank: Private
Company F, 17th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry consolidated into
Company D, 9th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry

We would appreciate a copy of his service records as well. We are attempting to put together a record of sorts for future generations. Any information would be appreciated.
