Thanks for both replies...I am so excited to see that people are still actively interested as many of the boards that were once so active have become quiet.

As for what I am suggesting about Samuel Owen...I just want to either prove or disprove once and for all the paternal line for my husband. This is really a genealogy query, but I have been searching for over 20 years and nothing new comes to light. I don't know how interested y'all are in family history, but in order to explain my original question, I think it necessary to explain the family dynamics.

First, I can document this...in 1880 Clark Co., Arkansas a family was there comprised of

Census Place: Caddo, Clark, Arkansas

Source: FHL Film 1254040 National Archives Film T9-0040 Page 456B

Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace

Samuel OWENS Self M M W 50 AL

Occ: Farmer Fa: --- Mo: ---
Cynthia OWENS Wife F M W 50 AL

Occ: Keep House Fa: AL Mo: AL
James T. OWENS Son M S W 19 AL

James married in 1881 in Clark County, AR and we have oral and documented history supporting the ancestry to this family shown on the census.

Samuel and Cynthia are never found again! James was a wanderer and his wife divorced him after he left her with two small children, so there is no oral history known from James.

1870 census searches over these past 20 years have not put this family together, however 1860 yielded one family that "fit". So, starting with those people, for these many years I have worked to bring them forward to prove or disprove they are the same as the Owen/Owens in Clark Co., AR.

Two daughters of David Weiger/Wiger/Weger/Wigger/Wager/Wiggin (spelled even more ways than this) in Perry Co., Alabama, Lucinda and Cynthia each married Owen/Owens men. Note the spelling of Owen/Owens was interchanged and never consistent. Lucinda, the older married in 1846 Perry Co., to John Owen; Cynthia married in
1854 to Samuel Owen.

[Note: I suspect the Weger sisters married kinsmen; likely brothers! Note ages are close and both Owen males born in GA.
This census matches Samuel and Cynthia Owen who are in 1880 Clark Co. James was not born until after the 1860 census, so this is very likely to be them, as ages fit! Still not seen on 1870.]

John Owen was killed in 1863 during the War. I have been working on this line, hoping to find a living Owen descendant who can assist me, but no luck thus far. I do have it filled out up to the 1940 census and some beyond with www and phone calls.

1870 Census: Lucinda is still in Perry Co with her family. Samuel and Cynthia and children no longer seen in Perry Co.; however there is a very good match in Tuscaloosa...

....
[My note: while these Owen females are not in the same household, they are "next door" and I believe are likely the [widow] Cynthia and her daughters.

This still leaves questions of:
Where was 1880 Samuel and Cynthia in 1870 and 1860 if not this family? Not seen anywhere on census.
Where was James in 1870? Not seen anywhere on census.

So, this is the reasoning behind my query about a death recorded in error. I am just determined to locate this family to put an end to complete it...My husband is now 87 and quite ill and that is part of my picking this back up and hoping to find additional clues.

Thanks for reading and hope I have not offended anyone with all this data....Have a good day@
