Thank you Bryan. You may not recall, but we shared info on your Howerton's buried at Union Hill Cemetery in Scott County. I appreciate the reply about my 3rd great grandfather.

I just remembered a cousin sent me a certificate of his service (probably not an original document), which showed him serving in the Infantry of Cocke's Regiment Company K. so the record I found on Edward Gerdes' Civil War web page has to be my ggg-grandfather's.

One more question, would he have been buried in the same area that he died in? I guess I should say - is it likely he would have been buried in the same area?
