Yes, Tumlinson's company is typical of Arkansas Confederate volunteer companies. The men tended to enlist in companies which were organized closest to where they lived, and often included fathers, sons, brothers, cousins, etc., not to mention friends and neighbors.

Five of my gggrandfathers served in the same company in the 38th Arkansas Regiment. I've set the company roster down next to the 1860 Lawrence County census and ticked off name after name, all from the same township. So many of my ancestors served in that one company, I've joked that the regiment was a family business.
