My trip to Gettysburg

I promised some of you an account of my trip to Gettysburg in late JUne. I hadn't been there in 16 years and couldn't get there fast enough when my father and I got the rental car at Harrisburg. It rained a lot, but I loved it. The last day was sunny. THe most touching parts were the 1st mInnesota sacrificing themselves in the middle of the filed on JUly 2,Pickett's charge, and Little Round top and Devil's den.
Arkansas had a big monument there for only having 1 unit there. DId they have more? I just don't think people realize the efforts of Hood's and Law's men having to double quick 25 miles to fight on the 2nd day of Gettysburg. The 3rd Arkansas fought in the Devil's den which wasn't as steep as little round top, but still a terrible place to fight. It must have been awful to capture a group of rocks only to know federals were behind other rocks ahead of you. I teared up several times touring the battle. God bless the boys of the blue and gray!!
Take care!!
