Actually the 3rd Arkansas was the only Arkansas regiment in the Army of Northern Virginia after June 1862.

At Gettysburg the 3rd Arkansas fought in the woods to the North of Devil's Den. It was the 1st Texas that actually took "the Den".

This does not mean that the Arkansas troops had an easy time of it. Not only did they engage, with the 1st Texas, the Union Brigade which was in front of them in Devils Den and along that ridge which lead to Devil's Den. But the 3rd Arkansas was also engaged with the Union Brigade which was stationed to their left along the bordered of those same woods and the "Wheatfield".

The 3rd Arkansas and 1st Texas were seperated from the rest of their command and when unsupported for over an hour during this fight against 2 federal brigades because of a last minute change in orders which were misunderstood.
