Re: 2nd ARK Cavalry Company I ???

Doyle, the issue of Arkansas troops serving in Louisiana regiments is one that I've explored superficially, and have found some interesting connections -- the 31st Louisiana, for example. But some in-depth research is on my very lengthy "to-do" list. Hopefully I can clear the decks and do some serious poking around later this year.

There is an invaluable resource, by the way, that you might want to consider adding to your CW library -- Art Bergeron's "Guide to Louisiana Military Units, 1861-1865". This is a must-have resource, particulary for Trans-Mississippi research. If you think that Arkansas regiments are hard to track through their various incarnations, reorganizations, redesignations, etc., you ought to try to make sense of the Byzantine world of Louisiana regimental designations. Dr. Bergeron has somehow managed to sort all this out. Rumor is that he's working on an updated edition.
