David Walker Moore enlisted in Co. G, 35th Arkansas Infantry, at Van Buren, Arkansas, on June 18, 1862. He transferred to Co. F, 4th Arkansas Cavalry, on August 12, 1862; and transferred back to the 35th Arkansas on September 29, 1862 (I don't know what that was all about). He was appointed quartermaster-sergeant and transferred to the non-commissioned staff of the 35th Arkansas at Camp McCulloch, Arkansas, on October 1, 1862. He seems to have served in this capacity until the end of the war, and was paroled at Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 15, 1865.
