Bryan, I wasn't trying to get ahead of you. These regimental interactions were so tangled that as you well know trying to trace them was almost impossible. It is because of that there is so much misinformation out there.
I have had people contend that because grandpa's pension application said he served in "Dawson's Regiment" that by extention he served in the 19th Arkansas and therefore served in Cleburne's Division. When in fact the man never left the State of Arkansas and was in battles such as Jenkins Ferry. I have even seen in one order of battle I believe that it was in the O.R.'s before Jenkins Ferry that Hardy's Regiment was listed as 19/24th Arkansas. Those old boys back then just didn't seem to care too much able what their regiment was "officially" called so long as it didn't effect them.
i.e. 3rd Arkansas Trans-Mississippi or the 26th Arkansas as you have already discussed. You've have had the same thing happen to you. Tell someone that their Grandpa served in the 3rd Arkansas Trans-Mississippi and immediately they will think that their grandpa served with General Lee in Virginia.
