The 1st, 4th, and 5th Texas certainly didn't take on 4 regiments of defending union infantry like the 3rd Arkansas did at Devil's Den on July 2nd, Gettysburg.

And while the Texans were hard fighters during the Peninsular campaign, 2nd Manassas and Sharpsburg, the charge of the 3rd Arkansas at Sharpsburg was equally as good an example of hard fighting as any that the Texans had done without recieving the same level of casualities.

The Texans themselves complimented the 3rd Arkansas boys when the Army was reorganized and they were assigned to the Texas Brigade by saying "Them is fighting men, boys. They'll do to tie to". If I know Texans they don't give compliments lightly.

The Gamers may simply have been going on the prior history of these units seeing that the 3rd Arkansas had not really proven itself in battle prior to Sharpsburg. While the Texas regiments were battle harden veterans of several fights such as 2nd Manassas and the Peninsular.
