Bryan, thanks for posting the information. As to the letters I sent you, that was more like 8 or 9 or 10 years ago. And you can use them, publish them,etc. as you like. Which reminds me. I had contacted Blair Tar a couple of years ago and talked to him about donating the originals to the Kansas Historical Society. Need to get back on that.
The 6th as a group were a bunch of hard core types that had no use for the "Seccush". My own g-grandfather was of this type. He bragged about being " a very fine jayhawker" and either in the same letter or another writes about getting into a little spat with the enemy and captureing some. He then mentions that "after this fight we will kill everything dead, white or black." His idol was none other than James Blunt, who of course was a very outspoken radical abolionist.
The more I read of the atrocities committed by the abolionists, the more I understand the veiw point of a lot of the Missouri bushwackers.
