I have recently been back tracking John Sappington Marmaduke to the time of his command of the 3rd Confederat Infantry Raised in Arkansas. I would appreciate some help in understanding this organization and if there are any records to be found on it other than what I have seen in the OR's - which is not much. Apparently the organization was pretty badly beat up during Shiloh and at Corinth it barely numbered 300. Marmaduke was then commanding a Brigade under Hardee. Any direction to follow would be of help to me.
