Re: Understanding the 3rd Confederate

As a matter of fact it is being published by Bartels at Two Trails. Added to the Trans-Mississippi Order book. I used all of the material of the national archives and then added everything related to Hindman from the Peter Wellington Alexander Papers, which filled in all the blanks for October 1862 to January 1863.

For general fund of information I guess I should add that I transcribed all of the records of Hindman's papers found in the PWA papers, to include all of the letters to Hindman and early returns. About a two volume work when edited. The problem is getting Columbia to give us permission to publish. They aren't exactly concerned about the Trans-Miss. Aside from a few letters the last thing I am doing is a catalog of orders and circulars, a tedious piece of work, but of interest to the researcher for certain. I am sure you have seen the micro film at one time or another, but what I did was go through the entire collection and collated it into a readable format similar to the TMOB and Marmaduke's records. Be glad to send you a sample. This is no small project and not exactly a profitable enterprise but its value to research goes without saying.
