Well, the letter doesn't detail any of the unit's activities, just him asking for folks to send clothes since all his got burned up I guess at Wilson's Creek. I have to find another letter from a 2nd Mtd Rifles who talks of a big fire when they went after some INdians I believe but I don't have it here right handy. The next letter after the Camp Wells date of Sept 14, 61 is dated OCt 18, 61 at Camp Pickens five miles west of Carthage. He mentions that they are gathering forces for a march to Kansas City to deal with the Kansas element that had been such a problem for SW Mo and NW Ark. But no real details on anything. Wish I could provide you more than that.
