Thank you for your information

The information that John W. Cox was killed in 1863 is from my GGrandfather's Indian Wars Pension Application papers. I have 140 pages of information from 1864 in Arkansas to 1881, when he mustered out in San Antonio, TX., 1880. Josephus Cox was under Custer's command, and was with the group that was in Wyoming. His group was called by Custer to "Little Big Horn", but got there too late. They buried Custer and his men.

Josephus Asa Cox was only 6 years old when he, his mother, Almarinda Susan Cox, and brothes left AR., and moved back to the Cox farm in Rome, Floyd Co., GA. When they got to Georgia, Sherman marched through Rome, GA., and burned all of the farms, and my Cox was one of the farms. I do not believe that John W. Cox was killed in AR. I think he enlisted in Alabama and Georgia. I believe that he died in 1868.

Thank you again! Janet
