I'm not sure what you're saying, but I'll try to clear up what I'm saying. There were sick soldiers at Camp Nelson that came or were brought to Little Rock hospitals, if they died in Little Rock they were buried in Little Rock near St John College. I know of none dying in Little Rock and being brought back to Camp Nelson and buried in the fields or woods. Some soldiers that died at Camp Nelson were buried several miles from the camp area, one is buried at least twelve miles from the camp. The re-burial of 1905 only reburied maybe 20% of the original deaths and none outside a mile or so of the camp. Soldiers that left Camp Nelson on an expedition or an operation that got very sick or wounded, most didn't come back to Camp Nelson. They were send to Little Rock, as was the case of General Nelson on his trip back from White River. So you have a number of soldiers from Camp Nelson dying in Little Rock. I know of no Hospital in the Camp Nelson area. There were a number of local families that took in sick soldiers from Camp Nelson. One family the Cowan's were nursing about twenty sick confederates at their home Sunnyside. Alot of the local families living in the Camp Nelson area knew these Texas soldiers personally. They had lived as neighbors in South Carolina in the 1850's. During a large migration west during the 1850's some of these families moved to the Austin, Arkansas area (Camp Nelson), and a number of these families moved to the East Texas area. Now these east Texas confederate soldiers and their old South Carolina neighbors meet again in 1862 at and near Camp Nelson. Did someone say small world?
