Dave, are you sure you have the correct unit? According to the monument at Camp Douglas, there were only two Arkansans with the name Young that died there: J.H. Young, Company E, 19th Arkansas Infantry, died of pneumonia 25 Feb 1863, and W.J. Young, Company G, 13th Arkansas Infantry, no information on date of death.

J.H. Young of the 19th is a strong possibility. Company E consisted of men from Sevier and Polk Counties, Arkansas, and a James Young, born 1836 in Alabama, was in his parent’s household (James and Mary) in the 1860 Census for Sulphur Springs TWP, Polk County, Arkansas.

The 19th fell captive 11 Jan 1863 at Arkansas Post and transferred to Camp Douglas on 08 Feb 1863.
