I would love to see a county-by-county analysis with the same attention detail you used in Saline County. That would be a valuable research tool for future historians. In researching the 3rd Arkansas Infantry many years ago, I looked pretty closely at Ashley, Drew and Union counties. Off the top of my head, I can't recall specifics regarding Drew or Union, but I do recall that just about every man of military age listed in the 1860 census of Ashley County served in the Confederate army, several serving in Louisiana regiments.
