I don't know of Grinsted ever being recommended for higher promotion. But of course in Arkansas the problem wasn't General officers get shot in combat and having to be replaced it was just the opposite of Generals being sent to Arkansas to take district command and then being superceeded by the next General to be sent and given a lower command.
