Re: Exchanges
In a little different situation, December 8, 1862 (the day after the Battle of Prairie Grove), Generals Blunt and Hindman met to discuss, among other things, exchange and parole of prisoners. Per the agreement, the prisoners were taken to Boonsboro (modern Cane Hill) and exchanged. Those not exchanged were paroled and weren't supposed to engage in military tasks such as fighting, guarding prisoners or building fortifications until they were notified they had been exchanged. Privates were exchanged 1 to 1, 2 privates for a noncom, 4 for a lieutenanat and so on.
