It seems to confirm that the Regimental numbering system was consistant from 1836 through 1862.
It contains information on several Militia Brigade Commander's that I had listed as unknown.
It has three more Militia Regiments that I was not tracking:
67th of Clark County,
68th of Columbia county,
69th of Hempstead county, and
71st of Carroll County,
(Not sure what happend to the 70th.
It looks like all of the Regiments have a break from 1847 until 1860. While I think it was true that interest in the Militia certianly took a big dip following the War with Mexico and was revived by Governor Conway just before the Civil War, I think the fact that all of the Regiments suddenly stopped reporting their officer's after 1847 probably points to a gap in the state records rather than an actual colaspe in the Militia System.
The Micorfilm also has the officers for many of the Volunteer Militia Companies listed with their dates of election. This helps demonstrate the connection between the Volunteer Companies and their parent Militia Regiments.
I really only got to spend about an hour with it due to the weather, but it is very promising. Thanks again for the lead!
