thank you for your response and information. i have found quite a bit of information on most of my civil war ancestors but one of my husband's gggrandfather has been a real mystery! his name is alonzo carr from pa. according to his the surviving soldiers and widow's schedule, he was supposed to be a private in the 26th. infantry, company A, but everytime i go into the 26th. pa. infantry regiment it says he was never there. when every i go into anything else, they always say that the only alonzo carr from pa. was in the 210 company k. i don't have anyway of knowing if it is the same alonzo, so i'm waiting for the forms from the national archives to fill out and maybe i can find out something that way. i hate to have to pay, but i guess that is the only way i'll ever find out.
