Patterson is listed as Honorable, but he had actually already been commissioned (June 5, 1861) as the Captian of a Volunteer Cavalry Company in the 34th Militia Regiment from from Jackson County at the time of his designation as a mustering officer. I have never been able to figure out what became of this company.
