Re: "Dead Angle" Mason Connection w/Arkansas Col.?

Greg,

Oh, I'm very familiar with the details of the that part of the battle, the fire in the woods, how it all went down. In fact, I've gleaned my information from first hand accounts from soldiers on both sides of the fight, and published accounts in the Confederate Veteran issues, and even news reports a day later after the battle. In all cases, there was no mention of Masonry playing a role.

But I received that "alternative description" about Masons being involved and I set out to prove it right or wrong. I had to be skeptical and objective as a researcher/writer and I have to source my finds. So, far I'm like you and many other historians....that it was NOT Masonic related that spurred the initial call for a ceasefire.....but rather a slaughterhouse of butchery and burning screaming soldiers caught in the fire. Until there is a source, then this is just rumor/legend. ya know?

Michael
