Re: grave markers
If your ancestor's graves are from Union soldiers, contact a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War camp for assistance. If your ancestors were Confederate soldiers, contact a Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp or the local United Daughters of the Confederacy for assistance. Grave marking and replacing broken markers, etc. is one of the major purposes of each of these organizations. Although these organizations must abide by the VA regulations, they have experience in doing so and can be of tremendous assistance. In addition, when the markers are installed, they can have a memorial service complete with rifle squad, playing of taps, etc. It can be a very moving experience. Allen
