Head Quarters Army of the South West,
Little Rock Arks Aug 2nd, 1862.
Colonel:
The Major General Commanding [Thomas C. Hindman] directs, that you at once detail from the Arkansas troops of your command, forty men suitable for artillerists, to report to Maj C. H. Rumsell, to form a part of Capt [William] Hart�s battery. - The men will carry with them their small arms and accoutrements complete - Each man will be furnished by his Captain, a descriptive role in proper form approved by the Regimental and Brigade Commander.
