Re: Executions in Hart's Artillery Battery

Damon

Do yu have any Idea where these executions would have taken place? Whether at Little Rock, or at Pine Bluff?

I wonder if these men may have been returned to their respective units for disciplinary actions. The reason I am asking is that in 1995 we reburied, at Sulphur Springs, a set of human remains that had been involved in a murder investigation, which had been examined by forenic specialist with the FBI and determined to be a War Between the States Soldier.

The examination determined that this soldier had been buried in a casket because of the wear marks on the bones. For a soldier to be buried in a casket during 1862/63 would have been very unusual where the body was found and that leads me to think that this soldier may have been the subject of an one of these execution conducted during this time.
