Thank you for the information you posted. In my research it seems he was wounded during the battle of Cornith or a battle leading up to the Seige of Vicksburg. I have a copy of the Confederate Register(Death Certificate)showing the death of Pvt. John Wycliffe Shoptaw, 1st Ark Cav., 15 October 1863. He died at the Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi.
