I don't have any info on your ancestor but might be able to help you with providing additional info when they deny it. I have had to fight with VA over the past two years. We are trying to get memorial markers for all our vets who have no known burial but are known to have died/KIA. We have got some but still working on others. Not sure where you are wanting to place the marker, but since you know he died in Columbus Hospital you might be able to get one and place it in the Confederate section of Friendship Cemetery there in Columbus where most are buried. He is not on the roll of those buried there but they might provide a memorial marker if the cemetery officials are interested in assisting. Contact that local SCV camp if interested and I bet they can assist. Let me know what you find out.
