I too am an offspring of Francis and Laura. My grandpa, John Franklyn Hayley was their last born. Francis died about two weeks after John's birth and Laura died when he was four. He was raised by his brothers and sisters. I have seen copies of most of the letters that were found in a trunk that Fanny left when she died in 1953 (I believe). I have been fascinated with this history for about 40 years. There have been a few books written and each one adds to my knowledge. I heard of a book that was written by someone in Oklahoma. Is that you? Another was written by Ray Hayley, "Johnson Chapel to Bentonville". I've lost contact with Ray and he may have died. He was ten years older than me and I'm 73 now. Ray used to attend Decoration Day gatherings at Johnson Chapel. I was born in Memphis and my family moved to the NW in 1955. I never met Elvis.
So, let's talk! I know my email address is correct (all lower case/ no spaces). How can we connect?
best wishes.
