A diary of a man in the 3rd MICH.Cav mentions,"June 20,1862,give up our carbines and recieved Whiting Rifles."I haven't been able to find a reference other then a type of Saddle designed for this weapon and a Texas Cav. officer with the surname Whiting. Any suggestions?
