Thanks Len, I appreciate your input. Do you know what the Residuary Battalions wore? They were veteran's also but they signed up for more time after their regiment finished the three year terms. Did they continue with regular dark uniforms or did they go to the veterans sky blue?

One member of the family went into the residuary battalion and had a wounded finger.. it matches the man in the VRC uniform but we can find no record of him in the VRC so far.. so could that man in the VRC uniform be from the residuary battalion instead?
